Theo's Big Day Out

London Aquarium

We took Theo out for his 1st birthday to the London Aquarium. He's always liked fish so my daughter thought this would be the ideal birthday day out.

but before we went out it was time for his presents

Then off we went to the aquarium. and Theo loved it

After the aquarium we went into the arcade next door and Theo drove the big red bus

Then back to his great Nan's - my mums for the cake.

Theo loves Disney's Jake and the Never land pirates so we had to get him the cake and I also brought a soft Jake which he took with him to the aquarium

All in all a very lovely day and we didn't have any tears or tantrums.

Here's to next years adventure

The London Haringay Racers

Ice Hockey

My partner Paul loves ice hockey, he comes from Guildford and always went to watch the Guildford Flames every week. I went with him  once when we first started dating, however his friend's wife and her friends gave me a frosty reception and it was colder in the stands than it was on the ice. So I wasn't really into it.

Many many moons ago when I was teenager I used to ice dance at the Sobel sports centre in Holloway and I used to stay behind to watch the guys practice their ice hockey.

Then a few weeks ago I saw on groupon that there was an offer to see the Haringay racers for half price. My partner jumped in there straight away and said yep lets go.
so I booked the tickets and away we went.

we had a great time, much better than my experience at Guildford. yes the rink is smaller at Ally Pally and they don't have the large fan base following then but those who were there, cheered the racers on. unfortunately the Racers lost against Oxford, but it didn't put us off going again.

So last Saturday we went again, this time camera in hand - flash off guys. it was a great game the Racers played well and they won 7-1

After 5 games the Racers are second in the English National South 2
I am upset that I will miss the next home match due to a holiday but we will be there at Alexandra Palace for the next one on 30th November

GO RACERS GO!

Reminiscing my childhood TV programmes

I was chatting with some friends the other day and we started to remember the TV shows we watched as a child.
Being the eldest in the group alot of the programmes I was recalling they hadn't heard off..

so here are a few that I remember with fond memories

Arabian Knights

Arabian Knights was an animated segment of the Banana Splits Adventure Hour, created by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The series is based on Arabian Nights. Set among the fantasy-set lands that surround the high city of Baghdad, the show followed the adventures of a group of extraordinary people, who have banded together to fight against a corrupt ruler of Baghdad

Mary, Mungo & Midge

Mary, Mungo & Midge featured Mary, a young girl who lived with her dog Mungo and a cheeky mouse called Midge in a modern tower block in a busy new town.
Mary was a latch key kid, seemingly on her own in that flat all day with only the animals for company.
Mungo was a rather pompous dog, regularly driven to distraction by Midge, who liked to play the flute (Three Blind Mice usually) and generally make a nuisance of himself.

Pogle's Wood

In The Pogles, Mr and Mrs Pogle were a homely couple living quietly in a tree root until the day Mr Pogle found a magic bean which, when planted, became a huge talking plant fond of bilberry wine. When the baby son of the Fairy King appeared in the branches of the plant it was up to the Pogles to protect him from a beak-nosed old witch

Tales of the Riverbank

Tales of the Riverbank was shown in the traditional Watch with mother slot and featured real animals and their related adventures, with the narration for the stories was lovingly provided by Johnny Morris.
The principle characters were two friends, Hammy the hamster and a white mouse. Both animals lived along a riverbank and shared adventures with their neighbours.

Fingerbobs

The host of fingerbobs was called Yoffy in the show. He was played by former Playschool presenter Rick Jones. He had his own special song describing how the Fingerbobs were created: "Yoffy lifts a finger, and a mouse is there - puts his hands together and a seagull takes the air; Yoffie lifts a finger and a scampi darts about."

I hope some of these have stirred up some memories for the oldies of us anyway.. for the younger generation this is what we enjoyed.

discovering nature

I took little Theo to the park yesterday and as it was nice I put him on the grass - luckily our little park is dog free so I know he was safe to be there, though his mum, my daughter was a bit mortified.

My partner had lovingly brought me a new camera for my birthday - its not til the beginning of November but I wanted to try it out before our holiday so Theo is an ideal subject to photograph

Due to my work commitments I don't get to spend as much time with Theo as a Grandma should but when I do I make the most of it.

It was great see him exploring and discovering the wondrous natural world.

Here are some photos

Ohh whats this green stuff

Teamwork

Teamwork

There are 4 people named Everybody, Somebody,Anybody and Nobody

there was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it.
Everybody was sure Somebody would do it, Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job, Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn't do it

it ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
